#funkyfriday — Tenderlonious + Dennis Ayler / "Butterfly"

Today, we present to you this laid back, jazzy affair, fresh off 8R1CK C17Y, the new release from South London’s Tenderlonious and his cousin, Dennis Ayler.

Tenderlonious is the man behind the curtain at 22a, a busy little label repping some of the bright lights in London’s underground club scene. Early on, he was noticed by big time tastemaker DJ Gilles Peterson (for whom Tenderlonious delivered a tight remix for the Havana Club Rumba Sessions collection).

On 8R1CK C17Y, Tenderlonious and Ayler blend afro-house, rare groove, funk, boogie and broken beat into a modern soul groove record that’s going to sound like “now” for a long time. Think Bitches Brew-era Miles meeting up with Kaytranada. (Yeah, it's that good.)

Here’s “Butterfly” to get your weekend fluttering on the good foot. Enjoy the flight.
